teaching animation
I train students to be animation artists. This means that they should be able to direct and produce an animation from beginning to end. First, find ideas and inspiration, and learn how to develop them; second, realize the idea - with all of the problem-solving this entails; and last, finish and evaluate the project - crucial to artistic growth. Look at animation to expand understanding of the medium; make technical and creative exercises to build skill and problem-solving abilities; and complete projects to build confidence and to develop directorial ability. My role is to be a guide on the path to developing an authentic artistic voice.
